This briefing summarizes the main lessons learnt from SocialWatt and interviews with 21 experts in Europe about the role of energy companies in tackling energy poverty, and more specifically for energy efficiency schemes tackling energy poverty (special focus of SocialWatt).
Energy companies are the first contacts of consumers about energy issues, and therefore key to identify who needs support.
Existing schemes show that both, consumers and energy companies, could benefit if energy advice was part of the basic energy service.

While financial aids for energy bills remain essential, a growing number of renovation programmes with clearer targeting are a key part of the solution.
This briefing provides an overview of the measures adopted by 10 countries to face the energy crisis, and the national energy efficiency measures they implement to tackle energy poverty.

Analysing the changes in the policies between 2019 and now, it found trends in policy measures that are more specifically targeted on priority groups and promoting deeper renovations.

It also discusses upcoming challenges.

At its start, the project SocialWatt analysed in the partner countries the status quo of energy poverty, its drivers and related policies. This was done in the end of 2019.

In order to facilitate the replication of energy efficiency/renewable energy schemes and actions developed within the framework of the project, numerous policy briefs have been developed, as presented in this report. These briefs were developed at different time periods, in order to align with and inform EU and national developments in policy. The policy briefs have been communicated to key EU, national and regional stakeholders, including ministries, energy regulatory authorities and energy agencies.

The project developed by eVISO has yielded encouraging results and it is now time to do more, facilitating other associations, foundations, NGOs, energy distributors and retailers in the creation of schemes targeting beneficiaries all over Italy.

This guidebook presents the three SocialWatt tools, i.e., SocialWatt Analyser, SocialWatt Plan and SocialWatt Check, including step by step instructions for their use.

This report presents the three SocialWatt tools developed, i.e. SocialWatt Analyser, SocialWatt Plan and SocialWatt Check. It includes information regarding the modelling methodology of each tool, data requirements and resources, the development process, the interconnections between the tools, the testing and validation process and the tools configuration.

SocialWatt and ENSMOV jointly organised a workshop titled "Alleviating Energy Poverty through Article 7 of the Energy Efficiency Directive" to exchange experience and lessons learnt from the two projects, to support policy makers and utilities that actively work on tackling energy poverty.
